Dear reader,
Hope your summer is shaping up to be both exciting and relaxing. Things have surely been busy during the past month here at IIEPassport.
Interested in study abroad in the UK? The British Council has new international students covered during their first weeks abroad in the UK, with Education UK's Guide to Studying and Living in the UK. The Guide gives students great advice on getting involved on- and off-campus, as well as on breaking the ice with their new foreign classmates.
We are also thrilled about our Student of the Month, Louiza Minasyan, who enjoyed a six-week adventure studying abroad in New Zealand, Australia and Fiji.
It's also a very exciting month when it comes to our featured study abroad destinations. Our Featured Destination of the Month is Ecuador, where students can study Spanish or one of many other study fields abroad. And don't miss our Featured City Portal this month-Auckland, New Zealand-where our Student of the Month spent some time.
Here's to making the most of the summer, as well as of all the study abroad opportunities we have to offer.
Cheers,
Josh

Featured Destination of the Month: Ecuador
Home to a wide array of cultures and natural attractions, Ecuador is the smallest country in the Andean highlands, and also one of the most culturally and ecologically diverse. Ecuador's population is a mixture of Native American, European and African influences, and the UN has named it as one of the world's 17 "superdiverse countries" because of the incredible number of species populating its varied ecosystems. Students who choose to study abroad in Ecuador will find ample opportunities in most major fields of study, including the social, biological and natural sciences, arts and humanities, agriculture, engineering and economics.
Located in Andean South America, Ecuador derives its name from the Spanish word for "equator" since it straddles both the Northern and Southern hemispheres. The country is home to thousands of species of flora and fauna, including 10 percent of the world's tree species, 8 percent of the animal species and an amazing 18 percent of the planet's known bird species.

Student of the Month - Louiza Minasyan
Glendale Community College sophomore Louiza Minasyan left her campus near Los Angeles, California for six weeks last winter and had the experience of a lifetime. She took part in a study abroad program offered by her school that took her to three countries: New Zealand, Australia and Fiji. In New Zealand, she spent time in the areas of Auckland, Waitomo, Rotorua, Queenstown and Milford Sound. Minasyan and her group also spent time in Sydney, Australia, and she and a smaller group topped off their overseas experience with an optional, recreational trip to Fiji.
Featured City Portal: Auckland
Auckland, though not the political capital of New Zealand, is certainly one of its most vibrant and thriving cities. It is here where the cultural, academic, artistic and culinary life of the land of the Kiwis reaches its peak. It is Auckland where students from all over the world-whether it is for a week, a semester or a year-surely end up at some point while visiting this enchanting, exotic country.
