Dear reader,

I hope you're having an enjoyable and relaxing summer!

In the June issue of the IIEPassport Newsletter, Arcadia University, Center for Education Abroad introduces us to its campus in Arusha, Tanzania. Nestled between Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro, Arusha is a sought-after destination for students seeking an unconventional and intellectually stimulating experience. With its dramatic natural setting, vibrant cultural scene, fascinating history and complex ecosystem, students of all disciplines are attracted to this contemporary East African country.

For a study abroad experience that promises to be both rewarding and challenging, look no further than Egypt where the timeless elements of the past are woven into its dynamic present. Known for its ancient marvels -- the Sphinx, the Pyramids of Giza and other wonders of the world -- it is also the most populous country in the Arab world. Situated in the east corner of North Africa, this captivating country serves as the bridge between Europe, Asia and Africa, as well as the crossroads of the Middle East.

For a European experience, St. John's University's unique "Discover the World" study and service-learning program takes you to some of the most exciting cities in Spain, Italy, France and Ireland, while earning 12-18 credits over the course of the semester.

Be sure to check out StudyAbroadFunding.org, our Adviser Center, and our Student Center for lots of information and advice to help you make the most of your study abroad experience. Also, please visit Hot Study Abroad Programs to find out about other new short-term programs in London, Milan and Rome.

Please let us know what items you would like to see in this monthly newsletter, and be sure to share the IIEPassport newsletter with your friends and classmates.

Best regards,

Josh

St. John's University

Spend an exciting semester living and studying in three different countries! With St. John's Discover the World program, you will spend five weeks each in Rome and Paris, then choose from five weeks in either Salamanca or Dublin. Or spend a full semester at our Rome campus immersed in the life of the "Eternal City." Either program offers dynamic service learning opportunities along with 12-18 credits over the academic semester, with courses that are culturally rich, academically challenging, and inspire an appreciation for European culture.

Featured Destination of the Month: Egypt

Studying in Egypt opens a captivating world of wonders that has intrigued people since ancient times. Today, Egypt offers both ancient and modern marvels, while its burgeoning economy and vital political position continue to have a profound influence on the world.

Situated in the east corner of North Africa, Egypt is a bridge between Europe, Africa, and Asia, as well as the crossroads of the Middle East. It is the most populous country in the Arab world. Its capital, Cairo, is the largest city in the Arab world and a major cultural and political center. Egypt is bordered by Libya, Sudan, Israel, and the Gaza Strip, and has major ports on the Mediterranean and Red Seas as well as the Suez Canal. Because Egypt's land is predominantly desert, approximately 90% of the population lives on only 3% of the total land area, mostly in close proximity to the Nile. This rich, life-giving river has defined Egypt's survival and prosperity from antiquity to the present.
